Who We Are

Green Graphite Technologies (GGT) is commercializing  its cost-effective and sustainable graphite processing platform to supply high-performance battery-grade graphite for electric vehicles (EVs), battery energy storage systems (BESS) and military applications.

The company transforms mined and recycled graphite into high-purity spherical graphite, leveraging a proprietary purification process with 55% lower operating costs and dramatically lower environmental impact.

GGT recently commissioned its 5kg/hr demonstration plant and plans to scale to a 125 kg/hr pre-commercial plant in 2028 and have its 1st commercial facility operating in 2029, becoming a key supplier in North America’s electrification value chain.

Patented Purification Processes

GraphPure™ is a sustainable, cost effective, and proven process to battery-grade graphite from mined natural flake graphite, while GraphRenew™ and GraphRestore™ purify graphite from secondary sources, including recycled LiB graphite and battery manufacturing scrap.

Modular Approach

Our 12,000 tonne per annum modular technology package will enable rapid, cost-effective production LiB-grade graphite from a domestic supplier, critical to the value chain.

New Beginnings

Our Founders

Our story begins with Kevin Watson, a PhD metallurgist with 35 years of experience in managing metallurgical projects. He recognized a massive opportunity to address the supply gap of high-purity LiB grade graphite. Along with Kingston Process Metallurgy’s (KPM) founders, they developed and patented a solution together called GraphPure.

Kevin then approached Gillian Holcroft, a long-time friend and former colleague, to get involved. Gillian is a Chemical Engineer with over 30 years of experience in technology development and commercialization. Naturally, she was eager to be part of this effort as she quickly recognized the opportunity, stating,

With Gillian’s expertise in commercialization and Kevin’s experience in project management, they built a strong team of strategic partnerships together with over 150 years of unique and complementary experience between them.

With Lithium-ion batteries on the rise, the need for high purity graphite rises with it. There is currently no commercial-scale NFG graphite purification plants operating outside of China.  The methods used in China have safety concerns, are detrimental to the environment, and expensive to operate.

That’s why we came up with GraphPure™ and GraphRestore™ – low-cost, modular, environmentally friendly  technologies that can be rapidly adopted around the globe.
