Meet the Team Q&A – Kayla

What motivated you to join Green Graphite Technologies, and what excites you most about the work being done here?

While my background isn’t in chemical engineering, I was drawn to GGT for its innovative vision and strong, passionate team. The idea of transforming graphite processing while significantly reducing environmental impact is incredible – especially given the clear gap in the market. I was excited to be part of a team making real progress in advancing clean technology, and I’ve been continuously inspired by the expertise and dedication of my colleagues. More than anything, I look forward to seeing how our work contributes to a more sustainable future for everyone.

Can you share a little about your background and how it connects to your role at GGT?

My background in East Asian Studies, Spanish, and Translation has given me a strong foundation in communication cross-cultural understanding. I initially joined GGT to assist with translating important documents into French, but over time, my role expanded to include grant communications, partnerships, and project organization. I’ve also gained valuable experience in financial tracking, which has given me a broader perspective on how startups grow and scale. It’s been an exciting journey of learning and applying my skills in new ways, and I can’t wait to see what we’ll achieve next.

How would you describe the work environment at GGT, and what do you enjoy most about being part of the team?

Working at GGT is fast-paced and dynamic – it’s easy to lose track of time with so many exciting things happening! The environment is always evolving, and I love collaborating with such talented team members who are passionate about what they do. That energy makes every day engaging and motivating. I also appreciate the level of responsibility I have in my role – being able to take the lead on tasks, contribute to meaningful goals, and see the company grow is incredibly rewarding.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

I absolutely love hiking and exploring the mountains, especially in Kananaskis! I’ve been dedicated to the hobby for a couple of years now, and last year, I managed to hit my goal of 200km on the trails. My favourite hike so far has to be Carnarvon Lake. Summer can’t come fast enough – I’m aiming for 300km this year!
