Terms have been reached for the supply of concentrate to produce lithium-ion battery grade graphite

Green Graphite Technologies Inc. (“GGT”), a leader in sustainable graphite solutions for the electric vehicle (EV) and speciality graphite products industries, and Weaver Energy, Corp. (“Weaver Energy”), a North American graphite producer, supplying high-purity natural flake graphite for EV batteries, clean energy, and advanced industrial applications, is pleased to the announce that the Parties have concluded the terms for the supply of graphite concentrate from Weaver Energy to GGT for the production of battery grade graphite.
GGT is commercializing GraphPure™, a sustainable, continuous carbochlorination technology, which presents a 50% reduction in operating costs versus the incumbent hydrofluoric acid-based (“HF”) graphite purification process, while offering an 82% reduction in greenhouse gas (“GHG”) emissions versus HF purified graphite from China. GraphPure™ also reduces water consumption.
GGT is moving forward with the demonstration phase of its technology, with the start-up of the initial stage in Q1 2026 in Kingston, Ontario. Ultimately, GGT plans to have its first commercial, North American-based lithium-ion battery grade graphite plant operational in 2029. Note that GGT is currently pursuing an equity raise of US$7million to complete the demonstration phrase in order to finalize a bankable feasibility study for the commercial plant.
Weaver Energy owns several properties in British Columbia rich in graphite, including the already permitted Black Crystal mine in southern BC (70 km from the US border). Because the graphite is in the form of regolith, an unconsolidated, fine deposit, this facilitates upgrading of the mineral with a substantially lower energy input (and thus lower costs) than typical hard rock deposits. With their existing, production-ready concentrator facility near the mine, Weaver Energy is poised to become one of the first suppliers of North American mined natural graphite-based anode active materials for EV batteries.

Greg Gibson, CEO of Weaver Energy added: “Our Black Crystal Graphite Project in British Columbia is a unique operation in that a significant amount of the resource consists of graphite contained in regolith (sand). This blend eliminates the requirement for drilling, blasting or crushing. Given the nature of the Regolith deposit, there are no tailing concerns as the the sand by-product is sold as sand and aggregate. Partnering with GGT will provide an opportunity to have North American-sourced natural graphite to be used in North American EVs. This collaboration offers what could be the lowest carbon-footprint, most environmentally-sound graphite in the industry.”
