Building a foundation for cost-effective, stable, environmentally responsible, domestic battery-grade graphite manufacturing

Green Graphite Technologies Inc. (“GGT”), an emerging graphite manufacturing and recycling technology company, is proud to announce that it is the recipient of a CA$500,000 contribution from the Ontario government in support of its graphite purification demonstration plant (“Demo Plant”), currently being started up in Mississauga, Ontario.

On June 10th, 20261, the Government of Ontario announced that GGT would be one of the 18 recipients of the Critical Minerals Innovation Fund (“CMIF”) destined to strengthen Ontario’s critical mineral industry. The funding will enable the start-up and optimization of the world’s first continuous carbochlorination reactor at the Demo Plant — a momentous step forward along GGT’s go-to-market strategy.

The plant will process both natural flake graphite and recycled graphite and will transform these feedstocks into battery-grade graphite at a purity exceeding 99.95%, satisfying the purity requirements of the lithium-ion battery industry. This will serve as the foundation for the commercial rollout of GGT’s proprietary graphite manufacturing process.

GGT’s CEO and Co-Founder, Gillian Holcroft, said the following:

The start-up of our Demo Plant this month is a huge milestone for GGT.  The North American lithium-ion battery manufacturers that serve electric vehicles, energy storage, micromobility and defence applications, have all been seeking a cost-effective, domestic source of battery-grade graphite to secure their supply chain. GGT is leveraging its patented technology and experienced team to address this urgent need.  I would like to thank the Government of Ontario for this opportunity to address a critical gap in the grapphite supply chain while demonstrating the effectiveness of our patented and environmentally friendly graphite purification technology.

About Green Graphite Technologies Inc.

Green Graphite Technologies Inc. (GGT), headquartered in Montreal, Quebec with pilot operations in Mississauga and Kingston, Ontario, is commercializing its patented purification technology to produce battery-grade graphite from mined and recycled sources to address the urgent need to onshore supply for North American lithium-ion battery manufacturers (i.e. gigafactories). With 55% lower operating costs compared to traditional methods and an 82% reduction in carbon footprint versus China-produced anode active materials, GGT’s technology is poised to enable the cost-effective and sustainable onshoring of midstream processing of this critical mineral. GGT’s 5 kg/hr demonstration plant in Mississauga, Ontario will be operational in Q3 2026. GGT will then scale to a 125 kg/hr commercial facility with target operations in 2028.  GGT’s business model is to be an operator and licensor of its technology and is actively collaborating with graphite miners and battery recyclers.
