Supporting the acceleration of GGT’s efforts to onshoring graphite processing for lithium-ion battery manufacturing

Green Graphite Technologies (GGT) is thrilled to announce that the company is the recipient of the Climate Solutions Start-Up Prize, a $250,000 equity investment by Cycle Momentum via its Origo Program. The prize was announced at the closing of the 2025 Climate Solutions Prize Festival, held last week in Montreal.
GGT is commercializing its patented purification process to produce battery-grade graphite to address the urgent need for onshoring its supply to North American lithium-ion battery manufacturers (i.e. Gigafactories). With a 50% lower OPEX vs the traditional approach, coupled with a 5x reduction in carbon footprint vs China-produced anode active materials, GGT’s process is poised to enable the cost-effective and sustainable onshoring of midstream processing of this all-important critical mineral.
Gillian Holcroft, Co-Founder and CEO of GGT, and 2022 graduate of Cycle Momentum’s Accelerate Program, said the following: “We are so appreciative of the leadership and guidance shown by Cycle Momentum in fostering climate innovations. Ms. Holcroft added: “With the recent signing of our first natural graphite supply agreement, GGT is now entering the first phase of its demonstration, with start-up scheduled for Q1 2026. This new investment will support and extend this first phase. GGT has also recently launched an equity financing round of US$7M to support the second “pre-commercial” phase of our demonstration.”
