Supporting the launch of US$7M fundraise for Demonstration Plant

Green Graphite Technologies (“GGT”) is pleased to announce that Gillian Holcroft, Co-Founder & CEO, received the Series A Pitch Award as part of the MaRS Climate Impact event, held on Dec. 2nd & 3rd, 2025 in Toronto, Ontario.  Ms. Holcroft outlined how GGT leverages innovation and collaboration to accelerate commercialization of its patented, cost-effective and highly sustainable graphite purification technology to serve not only the electric vehicle industry but energy storage, drones, micromobility and other defense markets.

GGT’s fully funded, 5 kg/hr demonstration facility, located in Mississauga Ontario, will be operational in Q1 2026.  The company is raising US$7M to fund a larger Demonstration facility (50 kg/hr) that will be operational in Q2 2027 and generate off-take agreements to help fund the first 20,000 tpa commercial facility.

“With over 90% of the battery-grade graphite produced in China, and with the looming supply gap for this critical mineral, North America needs a secure, sustainable and cost-competitive supply chain for its lithium-ion battery manufacturers.  With our first commercial plant operational in 2030, GGT will work with its strategic partners to propel new deployments as both an operator and technology licensor”, said Ms. Holcroft.

Ms. Holcroft added: “2025 has been a banner year for GGT, with numerous acknowledgements: Foresight 50 Honouree, Climate Solution Start-Up Prize Winner, and now this award.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank the MaRS Discovery District for this recognition and for their pivotal role in supporting the Canadian cleantech ecosystem.  With the target closing of our current raise in early 2026, and with the tremendous support we are receiving from the cleantech community, GGT is well positioned to lead the way to onshoring the battery-grade graphite supply chain.”
